We’re supporting local projects to help restore and rejuvenate areas alongside our urban creeks and rivers through the Green Links program.
A new round of grants has launched, with the program investing $10 million over three years to boost habitat, water quality, and create more green spaces.
This will help to protect more than 1,800 species of native plants and 600 species of native animals who call our waterways home. Revegetation projects funded through the program are essential to preserve and enhance creek and river health as well as the environments around them.
Green Links Grants will now be available across the state for urban waterway revegetation projects in and around cities and towns. For the first time, schools will be eligible to apply along with community groups, water and land managers, Traditional Owners and local councils.
Funding between $20,000 and $350,000 is available for revegetation projects that will help to improve habitat, support water quality and provide cool green spaces for communities across the state.
The first round of the Green Links Grants saw 23 projects share in over $6 million. This included funding to revegetate the areas along the Maribyrnong, Barwon, Moorabool, Werribee and Yarrowee Rivers as well Curly Sedge, Jacksons and Merri creeks.
