This year, there’s a wave of activity happening across the state as we celebrate National Water Week.

To help celebrate, Victorian water corporations once again hosted their popular poster competition for children from early learning through to Year 6 primary level.

It was inspiring to see over 5,000 entries creatively capturing this year’s Victorian theme of ‘Water for all, inspiring action.’

National Water Week is a chance for us to recognise the importance water plays in our lives and it was exciting to see kids across our state sharing this message.

From posters to protecting turtles, a lot is happening in the water space right now.

The North Central Catchment Management Authority recently announced they are working with Turtles Australia and Ridley’s Corporation to build 3 floating turtle island sanctuaries on Longmore Lagoon near Gunbower.

The islands will provide a safe space for turtles to lay their eggs, away from the predators that decimate their population.
