The Our Catchments, Our Community's leadership development program is an initiative to develop staff working in natural resource management and integrated catchment management. The program offered three different categories.
They were around Aboriginal leadership, women in leadership and innovation.
The grant started in 2017 and they ran until 2020.
The Women in Leadership grant, I used to undertake a leadership course in South Australia called Stepping into Leadership, which was run for women working in the agriculture field.
That involved, I think it was four or five days going over to South Australia, and undertaking different programs, which involved learning about yourself and learning about how you work as a leader. Learning about coaching and mentoring.
At that time I was working with, women in Sustainable Agriculture. I'd started up a, women's group, which was called WiSA. and that was about, you know, building their skills and leadership skills in agriculture.
And I thought that this would be a really great opportunity to, build my skills as well, so I can help them with further developing their leadership skills.
I helped start an Intrepid Landcare Group, which is a landcare group for young people. On a personal note, it really, one thing that I really wanted to do was look at my career and build my motivation and my work-life balance and work out, you know, what drives me, what motivates me to in my career.
And the grants really provided that opportunity and one that I'm really grateful to have received.
And also, I think it provides a little bit of recognition for the work that we have done. Having the recognition for that is really special as well.
